why I won't use AI to write

  1. Writing and actively engaging with a topic is thinking
  2. Asking an AI to write for you is outsourcing thinking
  3. If you outsource it, you lose the ability to do it yourself.

There’s an AI backlash. Students protesting against AI being used to generate (crap) slides. But then students are using AI to cheat.

We’re lazy. Writing and learning is damn hard work.

It’s too easy to write a prompt and get the AI to teach or learn for you.

Unfortunately we don’t learn like in the Matrix - we don’t ‘download’ material. We learn by actively wrestling with the topic, engaging in conversation, in writing, in creating with the knowledge gained.

Use your brain.
